This may be the first image that comes to your head when you think of meditation. A hippie or a monk sitting on top of a mountain meditating for hours to find inner peace. Meditation is a practice where an individual focuses the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity to train attention and awareness. Usually, the activity to focus on is breathing. This helps to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Meditation in theory sounds like a very simple process. You sit in one place and focus on your breathing. And for the most part, it is. But most people find difficulty in focusing on a particular object or activity without being distracted by a random train of thoughts. This can also be mastered with practice. My life turned upside down in November 2019 when I broke up with my girlfriend of 2.5 years. I went into depression and started having panic attacks and anxiety. I stopped talking to most of my friends and distanced myself from everyone.

At the time, I was working as a developer intern for a startup. Usually, I loved the work and could spend hours coding away without complaining. But the breakup made me lose interest in everything including the job. This spike of attacks has definitely kept cybersecurity experts busy. However, it is impossible for any human to go through gigabytes of logs to find an attack in order to take the necessary steps to prevent it. …

Around 93,000 jobs in Data Science are vacant at the end of August 2020 in India. Despite people being laid off in a lot of industries due to covid-19, data science, and analytics jobs have an increasing demand not just in India but across the world.

Although the vacant jobs have reduced from 109,000 in February to 82,500 in May 2020, we can see that the demand is consistent. 70% of these vacancies are for jobs with less than 5 years of experience. …

I am sharing my journey from being an intern at a social media startup to a Tech Lead at a cybersecurity startup. I hope to inspire and motivate others on a similar path.

The Beginning

I started programming in high school and I was hooked from the moment I successfully ran my first hello world program in C. Up until college, I had made a few mini projects in C, C++, and Python.

After joining my undergraduate degree in Computer Science, a whole new dimension of Web Development and Data Science opened up. Now, my college’s curriculum was mostly theoretical like a lot of Indian colleges. …
